Egypt Exavation 3rd Person

I believe that not only architecture students, architects by training, or just enthusiasts, but everyone has a certain admiration for the artistic works that Egypt has produced throughout history. And Egyptian architecture is something that permeates mysticism and the human ability to create gigantic works.

Assignment

“In week 02, let's build an Ancient Egyptian Tomb. I was inspired by the movie “The Mummy” and it should make for a decent backdrop to create some spooky tight spaces.”

  • Get more familiar building LINEAR spaces

  • Start identifying key shapes

  • Imagine a story or gameplay taking place

  • Blocking out a simple level to move around in

  • Continue getting familiar with Blueprint Character (ALS V4)

  • Make your own PureREf Reference Board

“Please Include

  • Proper start position facing towards the level

  • A tight linear level. Linear means only having one clear path to progress through space.

  • An important point-of-interest to reach at the end of the space. Could be a special tomb, artifact, room, sarcophagus, etc. The level leads me to this place.

  • Boundaries to block the player in (or death fall trigger in case I fall)

In the second week, the style I had to follow was an Ancient Egyptian Tomb.
A media that was part of my childhood was the movie "The Mummy" with Brendan Fraser, and revisiting this movie was an incredible experience.
I ran out and sorted out my Egyptian architecture books and started creating some block-outs.

This week Shane asked us to create a pureRef to demonstrate how our process worked when creating a concept board.
In this Level, I was able to work a lot more on the verticality that I had heard was so important. And it was amazing to learn about it. I saw several lectures on the area while I was working on the Level.

The level in focus is being used to create something bigger, so I preferred not to leave a link to the executable for people to play. As soon as it's ready, I'll put a link in place of this message.
Also I'll leave you with the link of the CGMA Promotional Video for the Level Design for Games Course with one of my Levels.

Here is a download link so you can try it.
Have fun.
